Support clean cooking by contributing to Servals India cookstoves project

Servals has been working in India to implement clean cookstoves and is now asking for community support to raise funds to  provide cookstoves to 100 families in a village in Tamil Nadu, India based on their working business model for charcoal stoves.

One week trial for in farm biochar production set for 7 - 11 September in South Australia

Earth Systems Australia is assisting the "Murray Mallee Local Action Planning Association " run a 1 week trial for in farm biochar production from various local woody biomass species. In particular they are processing oil mallee, which has been planted in the South Australia as part of previous failed projects, and they are now looking for a new home and biochar is a potential solution.

BioEnergy Development, LLC is organizing an effort to establish biochar testing standards (using biochar for agricultural application) for the State of California (United States). They are working with the USDA-ARS Federal Labs under the direction of Dr. Jeff Novak (soil scientist and one of the world’s leading experts on biochar).

HailongIBI is proud to welcome Dr. Hailong Wang of Zhejiang A & F University in China for our September IBI Webinar Series event.  Dr. Wang will discuss how the contamination of soil with heavy metals is a concern in many parts of the world because of its potentially adverse effect on the ecosystem health and food safety. Typically, biochar is an alkaline material and has a large surface area.
