Biochar for Environmental Management: book published 2009

This all encompassing book on biochar, Biochar for Environmental Management, is edited by IBI Board members Johannes Lehmann and Stephen Joseph. The volume explores a diverse set of aspects needed to advance the application of biochar for environmental management. Authors with expertise in the basic sciences as well as economics, marketing and policy summarize our current knowledge and provide a roadmap for future research and development of biochar.

IBI Guidelines for the Development and Testing of Pyrolysis Plants

IBI Technology Extension Director Jane Lynch and IBI Technical Director Stephen Joseph are the authors of the 32-page document, Guidelines for the Development and Testing of Pyrolysis Plants to Produce Biochar. This document was produced to assist in the development and testing of small pyrolysis plants and provides advice on equipment design and testing as well as the specification and testing of the biochar product.

IBI Field Trials Guide

The Guide to Conducting Biochar Trials by IBI Extension Director Julie Major, is a 32-page document that covers all aspects of designing and setting up a biochar experiment in a nursery or field plot. It covers quick and easy methods for testing biochar suitability, designing replication and controls, how to do soil testing and how to analyze your results.
