IBI’s Biochar Academy is an in-person, multi-day, hands-on workforce development course designed to equip emerging and future biochar professionals with the knowledge and tools necessary for success in the biochar industry.
The IBI Biochar Academy is your chance to immerse yourself in all things biochar. Hosted annually in a different region around the world, the training is led by biochar experts and practitioners with regional knowledge. The Academy provides a unique opportunity to quickly connect with and contribute to scaling the biochar industry.
This unique experiential learning program blends presentations and demonstrations with hands-on practice, and features multiple site visits to engage with real-world biochar production and application.

2025 IBI Biochar Academy: Thailand
IBI is thrilled to partner again with ECHO Asia to deliver IBI’s 2025 Biochar Academy at their Small Farm Resource Center in Chiang Mai, Thailand from 24 February – 1 March, 2025.
By emphasizing peer-learning and networking, the Biochar Academy fosters innovation and strengthens the global community of biochar practitioners through place-based learning at host locations around the world.
