A Season of New Biochar Beginnings

As the summer season begins in the Northern Hemisphere, so do new beginnings and opportunities here at IBI — all in service of supporting the biochar industry’s connection, capacity, and scale. 

The IBI team and I are thrilled to announce the launch of our brand-new website! Designed with you in mind, it offers a more user-friendly interface and streamlined navigation incorporating IBI’s refreshed brand and initiatives. We hope this new digital home will serve as a valuable resource for everyone interested in biochar’s potential to combat climate change.

We are also organizing several new webinars and member networking events for the summer and beyond to foster connections and collaborations within our community. (We hope you’ll join us on July 10 for a webinar with Kita on the current state of biochar project finance and in August for a regional virtual networking meeting co-hosted with the Australian and New Zealand Biochar Group.) Alongside this, we will soon roll out a series of membership levels tailored to your needs, a direct response to the insights from our recent membership survey (still open!). We are listening to your feedback, and we are excited to shape our future initiatives based on your ideas and needs.

As we continue to develop biochar education and awareness, I am excited to announce the release of the “Biochar Manual for Carbon Removal” guide in partnership with HAMERKOP. This comprehensive guide dives deep into the steps to engage in the voluntary carbon market with biochar projects, offering valuable insights and practical knowledge for everyone from curious newcomers to  industry veterans.

Finally, looking towards the fall, we will soon open registration for a maximum of 80 very fortunate people on the IBI / ICHAR Italy Study Tour — learn about biochar use in vineyards in the Chiantishire area just outside Florence.
