IBI and the Center for Circular Economy in Coffee Announce New Collaboration

The International Biochar Initiative (IBI) and the Center for Circular Economy in Coffee (C4CEC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate knowledge sharing and access to educational resources across their respective communities.

Coffee production and processing generate large amounts of organic residues, many of which have the potential to be converted into biochar. This connection between the coffee and biochar sectors provides a starting point for collaboration, allowing both organizations to share relevant information and learn from each other’s work.

The agreement builds on an existing relationship through the Biochar Resilience Network (BRN), in which C4CEC participated as a founding collaborator.

Over the next 12 months, both organizations will provide reciprocal access to selected educational resources, publications, and webinars for their respective communities. They will also promote relevant events and consider developing materials focused on biochar applications in the coffee value chain.
