Hello to the biochar community – I’m IBI’s new(ish) Communications Director and hope to (virtually) meet as many of you as possible at the 14th September IBI Members-Only Meet & Greet! It is super exciting to enter the biochar industry, a vibrant, idealistic, passionate, and growing sector with so much promise and proven benefits.
I’ve been working on a few changes that I can’t wait to share with the IBI community:
- The aforementioned member virtual networking event – we’ll have many tables focused on topics, as well as opportunities to
- Updated website – we’re launching an interim website shortly while we work on a larger website update.
- A refreshed “brand” for IBI – more than a logo, a brand is a way to create an identity that people can connect with both for IBI and also with biochar itself. There will be opportunities to help with this rebrand effort – stay tuned! (and here’s a favorite TED talk about the importance of branding for human connections)
- COP27 events – stay tuned for details about IBI’s plans with partners in Sharm el-Sheik this year and let us know about your plans at this year’s meetings!
Please contact me with any questions about IBI, and to keep sharing your news – jobs, funding announcements, project updates, published research, news articles, and events, etc. – so that IBI can share it with our networks via our newsletter and on social media.
As a marketing and communications practitioner with many years in international development and climate solutions for food and agriculture, I think a lot about how to connect people with knowledge, with each other, and with the resources they need to create thriving, equitable communities.
We can only do this together – thank you for your collaboration and support!
In partnership,
Wendy Lu
