As we look ahead to IBI’s 20th anniversary in 2026, we see more than a milestone—we see a launchpad.

IBI strives to innovate and improve how we serve our members and the broader biochar community. Looking at progress toward these goals, FY2025 was a year of growth and grounding. We deepened partnerships, expanded our global education footprint, and elevated biochar’s visibility in policy, industry, and culture. From global events to regional Academies, from updated standards to extended digital tools like the Biochar Atlas, the momentum is real—and it’s accelerating.

We couldn’t have done this without you. To all of our members, we say “Thank you.” Your commitment, curiosity, and collaboration make our work possible. Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or just recently joined, your presence strengthens our mission

Our FY2025 Annual Report highlights the progress that we’ve made. But we’re just getting started.

We begin FY2026 with clarity and drive. We’re enhancing our impact across six strategic areas: education, research, visibility, membership, funding, and events. This includes tailored member experiences, new learning programs, and expanded global engagement—all under the banner of our new campaign: Scaling Biochar Together: Setting the Foundation for the Next 20 Years.

Through this initiative, we’ll focus on the places, people, and practices shaping the future of biochar, and translate those experiences into practical guidance to help increase biochar production worldwide. We hope that you’ll stay connected—on our website, social platforms, and through member-only channels—as we build what comes next.
