Expanding Access to Biochar Testing: Your Input Needed

Hi everyone!

As many of you know, laboratory testing is essential for biochar producers; not only for quality assurance, but also for certification and market access. However, we also recognize that for many producers, especially outside North America and Europe, testing can be a real challenge. High fees, long shipping distances, and the limited number of labs familiar with CSI standards often make the process difficult or inaccessible.

We’re currently working on updating our public list of laboratories that can perform biochar characterization, with a special focus on expanding options in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and other regions. Having more geographically accessible labs would make a huge difference for many producers.

With the release of the new ANSI ASABE USBI S668 Methods, we’re hopeful that more labs may be able to adopt biochar relevant methods, but we still need a clearer picture of what’s currently available.

So we’d really appreciate your help:
Where do you send your biochar samples for testing?
If you work with a lab (local or international) that you trust, or know of one preparing to offer biochar testing, please share the name, location, and contact if possible. Any recommendations will help us reach out, verify capabilities, and strengthen a broader, more accessible list for the whole community.

Thanks in advance for your support! Your input will directly help make testing more accessible for producers around the world.
