New Mexico State University’s Cooperative Extension Service will host a Biochar and Soil Health field day on 24 April at the Leyendecker Plant Science Center in La Mesa, New Mexico. The event aims to educate participants on the impacts of different management practices on soil health and crop growth, as well as provide a demonstration on how to prepare biochar.

Participants will learn how to prepare biochar from wood wastes using the Ring of Fire biochar kiln and explore the potential of biochar to improve soil health and sequester soil carbon. The event will also include a tour of the soil health research site.
